A changing network relationship
Lyca Mobile developed as an international mobile brand with a UK service. Its UK host-network relationship changed to an EE partnership, making older O2-based coverage comparisons unsuitable for assessing the current service. Lyca remains the account provider. The wholesale relationship does not transfer Lyca customer support, plan rules or international allowances into an EE retail account.
Start with the people you call
International-calling inclusions can be relevant to Lyca users, but country and number-type lists matter. Check the actual destinations used by your household and whether both landlines and mobiles are included. Avoid assuming a broad international label covers premium or special numbers. If most calls happen through messaging apps, compare the importance of data against that of traditional calling minutes.
SIM plans and device checks
Lyca supplies airtime for compatible phones through physical and digital SIM routes. Review the particular plan's allowances, term and renewal settings. An imported device may need a more careful compatibility check than a UK model of a similar name. Ask about the calling features you depend on instead of inferring support solely from the ability to connect to mobile data.
A phone is not automatically part of airtime
Treat the handset as a separate arrangement unless the specific product documents expressly include it. Existing finance, insurance and warranty obligations continue with their respective providers. A number transfer does not end an unrelated device repayment. Keep those records distinct so that a decision about a Lyca allowance is not mistaken for a change to the whole phone ownership arrangement.
Monthly cycles and prepaid use
Lyca's range includes bundle-based service with renewal conditions that need checking for the selected product. Distinguish prepaid credit from an active allowance and inspect any automatic renewal setting. A monthly cycle describes timing, while the contract documents explain commitment. For a rarely used line, check expiry and inactivity requirements rather than assuming an unused balance guarantees indefinite number retention.
Payments and international exceptions
Use Lyca's official account records to compare the bundle's active period with the date of an additional usage item. A call outside a destination list or to a special number may not use the ordinary allowance. Keep a record of the number category without publishing personal contact details. Lyca must investigate the account-specific position; threemoblonko cannot amend balances or handle payment disputes.
eSIM and travel products
Lyca publishes eSIM information for its services, including travel-related products. Distinguish a UK mobile subscription from a destination-specific travel data product: they can have different activation, number and validity conditions. Confirm that the intended product supports the functions you need. Installing a profile does not by itself transfer an old UK number or cancel its previous service.
Roaming versus calling abroad
Check the actual plan's roaming country list and usable allowance. International minutes from home do not establish what is included overseas. If a trip has several countries, review each rather than relying on a regional label. Activation timing can matter for travel products, so read the product-specific instructions before departure and preserve access to the official account.
Number transfer and account responsibility
Use Lyca's official switching route when bringing or taking a number. Check the remaining service obligations before submitting a transfer and keep a record of the expected date. Contact Lyca for incomplete transfers, replacement SIMs or security concerns. EE's role as network partner does not mean its retail agents can investigate a Lyca payment or issue Lyca account credentials.
